On October 17, 2018, as part of the VII National Information Library Week "Infolib Uzbekistan", users met with the editors of the most widely read newspapers on the theme: "Newspaper - captured moments of history", as well as awarding the most active readers of the National Library of Uzbekistan newspapers. Representatives of the editorial offices of the newspapers "Xalq so`zi", "O`zbekiston ovozi", "O`zbekiston Adabiyoti va San'ati", "Hurriyat and ishonch" took part in the event.
Opening the event, the head of the General Fund Storage Service, M. Mirkhodjaeva, noted that even in an age of developed technology and the news-saturated Internet, good publications will remain, will exist and will always be in demand. “Today it is difficult to imagine our daily life without the media. Because it is from the pages of newspapers that we learn about current events in Uzbekistan and in the world. The National Library of Uzbekistan collects a large collection of periodicals and serves readers. Periodicals have been kept in the library’s fixed assets since 1925. Today we receive for storage more than 1000 names of periodicals.The storage service of the general stock of the National Library of Uzbekistan analyzed the number of orders for newspapers and identified 5 popular editorial offices and 5 active readers of newspapers.
Thanks to the readers for their interest in the newspaper “O`zbekistan Adabiyoti va San'ati”, the chief editor of the newspaper Uktam Mirzayor noted that the purpose of this meeting for media representatives is to talk to readers, to know their opinion about what they care about today and how they represent today's newspapers. “When you read us, we say, and today we want to hear from you, your questions, wishes. Such meetings give us a great responsibility and open up the topics of new articles and correspondences. Thanks to them, new ideas and thoughts are born, as from such meetings we are inspired and charged with energy.”
The editor in-chief of the newspaper "Ishonch" shared his views on the number of readers of newspapers and their preferences. “The Internet is perceived today as a free means of obtaining information. But it must be remembered that the print media primarily performs an ideological, spiritual, educational and educational function, ”he said.
The meeting participants were interested in covering issues on current issues in newspapers, subscription benefits, selection of young journalists and upcoming editorial plans.
At the end of the meeting, representatives of newspaper editorial offices and active readers of newspapers received gifts from the National Library of Uzbekistan.
