Visit of the delegation of Aichi University of culture (ACU) to the national library of Uzbekistan

On May 11, 2018 the delegation of Aichi University of culture (ACU) headed by the Chairman of the Board of Aichi Prefecture universities Corporation accompanied by the representative office of Nagoya University in Uzbekistan visited the national library of Uzbekistan.

 

If the purpose of visit of delegation to Uzbekistan - to study history and technology of production of ancient Uzbek paper, to acquaint the world community with ancient Uzbek paper, and also by means of a paper to recognize distribution of the Uzbek science, culture and miniature art in the East and the West, the purpose of visit of national library of Uzbekistan became discussion of questions of cooperation, acquaintance with rare and especially valuable manuscripts which are stored in library, with their storage and restoration.

Within the framework of the visit, a study tour of the national library was held, covering the activities, opportunities and prospects of the national library of Uzbekistan.

During the tour, the delegation was informed about the history of the library, its current activities, the conditions created here for users, the latest innovative technologies used in the process of creating an electronic database, the international cooperation of the national library. The delegation visited the Department of manuscripts, unique and especially valuable editions of the national library of Uzbekistan, where they got acquainted with ancient lithographic and printed editions, maps and books. During the visit, a round table was held with the participation of representatives of the Aichi University of culture (ACU) and the national library of Uzbekistan. The round table discussed issues of mutual cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, as well as prospects for bilateral cooperation in education and science. 

At the end of the visit, Koji Shibazaki, the head of the research project on ancient Uzbek paper, Aichi University of culture (ACU), thanked for the warm meeting, expressed delight at the conditions created here and wished the national library of Uzbekistan further prosperity.
