On April 18, 2019, the opening ceremony of the National Educational Electronic Library was held at the National Library of Uzbekistan. The event was attended by representatives of the company LG CNS, the export-import bank of Korea, the Korean embassy in Uzbekistan, the Deputy Minister for the development of information technologies and communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan B.Olmatov, the Head of the Information Policy Department of the Information Agency and the Mass Communications under the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan D. Saidjonov, specialists of the National Library of Uzbekistan and media representatives.
The project “National Educational Electronic Library” was performed in fulfillment of the tasks specified in the Presidential Decree of December 17, 2013 No. PP-2088 “On Priority Measures for the Implementation of the Project“ National Educational Electronic Library ”in financial cooperation with the Fund for Economic Development and Cooperation of the Republic Korea ", in order to fulfill the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated November 17, 2014 No. PP-22" On the Investment Program of the Republic of Uzbekistan a year of 2015 ”and in accordance with the agreement signed by the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan and LG CNS of South Korea. The project was implemented jointly with the Foundation for Economic Development and Cooperation of the Republic of Korea.
Welcoming the participants of the opening ceremony of the National Educational Electronic Library, LG CNS President Kim Yong Sob congratulated them on the launch of this project and expressed the hope that this library will serve for many years to encourage public interest in reading and promoting reading culture in Uzbekistan. He hoped noted that “It is noteworthy that today in Uzbekistan, in a steadily developing country in the world, great attention is paid not only to economic, but also to spiritual development. The project to create the National Educational Electronic Library is one of the priority projects of the Uzbek-Korean economic cooperation. Taking this opportunity, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who expressed their interest in the project, who contributed to its creation and implementation”, he said.
Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of the Republic of Korea Ing Son So congratulated everyone on the opening of the National Educational Electronic Library, noted its purpose and importance. “The main goal of the project is to expand the use of electronic information resources in society, and also to connect information and library facilities to a single electronic library system, improving the intellectual potential and knowledge of the population. The electronic library consists of a material digitization center, a multimedia center, and an integrated electronic library system. We believe that the National Educational Electronic Library will contribute not only to the development of the information and library sphere in Uzbekistan, but also to information and communication technologies”.
Director of the National Library of Uzbekistan U. Teshabaeva welcomed the guests of the event and expressed gratitude to all who contributed to its creation. “This is a project not only of the National Library of Uzbekistan, it is the first nationwide electronic library uniting 20 large information and library institutions. Despite the fact that the foundation of the National General Education Electronic Library in 2018, the study of information library centers began much earlier. Today at the opening ceremony, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to the heads of our state, specialists from Korea, all partner organizations and enterprises that supported us in its creation and work. This project is consonant with the fourth of the five initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, which corresponds to initiatives aimed at increasing the spirituality of the population, especially young people, at developing their reading abilities, and also serves to popularize the culture of reading and increase their intellectual potential, ” said U.Teshabaeva.
After the opening ceremony, the participants got acquainted with the possibilities of the National Educational Electronic Library, created with the aim of modern, high-quality and fast customer service - multimedia halls, audio and video studios, special tools for people with disabilities, a digitization center, audio and video studios equipped with modern equipment.
At the end of the event, certificates were presented to 20 information and library institutions. It was also noted that these institutions will be equipped with scanner equipment.
