Since 2002 the National library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi annually spends a debatable round table «Betger’s readings» for the purpose of discussion of the problems connected with a role and a place of the library in the formation intellectual and an information field, and also for the consolidation of scientists, teachers of library disciplines and librarians-experts in the business of definition of the role and the place of the library and information-library service in an infrastructure of a modern society to memory about outstanding Central Asian librarian and the bibliographer Evgeniy Karlovich Betger who has brought the big contribution to formation and development of the Uzbek library science.
 The subjects of the round tables reflect aspiration of the National library accurately to define directions of activity of library-information business and according to it to develop:

«Innovative activity of libraries: cooperation and interaction» – the idea of the consolidation of libraries of various systems and departments for the understanding mission, problems and a role of libraries in an information-social infrastructure of the country became the basic idea. Questions were considered: modern initiatives in practice of work of libraries; theoretical and practical aspects; library science history.

«Library priorities» – what should be library in a context of development of national culture, what its overall objectives at formation of mission and working out of strategy of adaptation to new conditions.
 

Betger’s readings – 2004
«Problems of active and creative use of resources of libraries» – what problems exist at the heart of the developed practice of granting and use of resources of libraries that the most important in this business and as it is carried out in practice. Questions were mentioned: library during an epoch of development of an information technology; library in a context of development of national culture; ways and ways of granting and use of resources of libraries; the person against history (bibliographers, librarians brought the contribution to development of a library science of Uzbekistan).

«Preparation, retraining and improvement of professional skill of library shots» – are considered problem questions in system of improvement of professional skill of library shots, ways of preservation and perfection of system of improvement of professional skill to republic, forms and contents of continuous library formation for the purpose of increase of level of library service and activity of libraries.
 

Betger’s readings -2006
«Questions of the reforming of a library science of Uzbekistan» – were discussed questions of the reforming of library-information sphere of Republic (it agree decisions of the President of the Republic Uzbekistan «About the organization of information-library maintenance of the population of republic» № software 381 from June, 20th, 2006). Actual problems of information-library service of the population for the purpose of working out of recommendations are mentioned following the results of discussion. The organization of information-library service of the population was considered: new forms and methods; information services: granting ways; strategy of effective work library centers in the formation of a mental potential of a society; system of creation and distribution of information resources, providing of access, etc.

Devoted to the 120 anniversaries from the date of Evgeniy Karlovich Betger's birth (1887 - 1956).
«Library in a context of historical transformations» – value of the contribution of E.K.Betger in development of a library science of Uzbekistan revealed. Questions on history and a bibliography current state, library service and formation of national electronic resources, and also history, a condition and prospects of development of a library science of Uzbekistan in formation of information culture and intellectual and an information field were considered.

«Library: dialogue in youth language» – it is devoted questions of interaction of the information-library, information-resource centers and libraries with a youth audience. The role and a library place in formation of an intellectual information field, and also support of development of reading, information literacy in the youth environment, problems of formation of the concept of sights at the book, reading and library as the basic base of development of the person was discussed. The questions of information literacy in the youth environment have been brought up; a role of the librarian in development of the young reader; introduction of modern techniques and technologies of attraction of youth to reading; the organization of actions with young men within the precincts of the library; the formation of information culture of youth; the information-library service at the present stage of the development of the library science of republic.
